Divine Mercy Sunday
April 27 - Regular Sunday Mass schedule
2 p.m. Divine Mercy Chaplet and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament
Our Lord revealed to St. Faustina of His desire to literally flood us with His graces on this day.
A plenary indulgence on Divine Mercy Sunday is granted under the usual conditions of sacramental confession, Eucharistic communion and prayer for the intentions of the pope, to those who in any chapel, in a spirit that is completely detached from the affection for a sin, even a venial sin, take part in the prayers and devotions held in honour of Divine Mercy, or who, in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament exposed or reserved in the tabernacle, recite the Our Father and the Creed, adding a devout prayer to the merciful Lord Jesus (e.g. Merciful Jesus, I trust in You!)
An indulgence is a remission of temporal punishment due to sins that have already been forgiven through the sacrament of confession. Plenary indulgences go beyond partial remissions and offer complete purification, wiping away all temporal punishment for past sins, making the soul as pure as a newly baptized infant.
